I walked into Empire Nutrition in Bellmore to get a protein shake and walked out of with a protein shake and an Outright Bar. Having never heard of or tried the Outright Bar, I’m not sure what compelled me to buy a couple of bars but I’m glad I did.
Why I liked the Outright Bar
The Outright bars come in so many different flavors. They had about 10 of them in the store. I grabbed the oatmeal raisin almond butter bar. I tried it and loved it.
What was in the bar that made me love it?
I looked at the ingredients. It included Almond butter, whey protein, flavored oats, raisins, cinnamon, natural vanilla flavoring and that was it. It does contain almond and milk, so for those of you who are allergic, this would not be right for you.
Actually, I loved the bar so much that I ended up buying a case of them on Amazon. I also ordered the cookie dough ones from the Vitamin Shop as well. They were all natural and simply delicious.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve had many bars. Some taste okay, edible and others are just horrendous. The Outright Bar is really delicious. (And it’s all-natural and gluten-free!)
Taking it on a Test Drive
What’s interesting about the Outright Bar is that when you put it in your mouth, the flavor takes a few minutes to catch up. I can’t tell if I like it when I put it in my mouth or it’s once I’m chewing that I start to experience the real flavor. Whatever the case, when I swallow a piece of Outright Bar, I find that I am amazingly surprised at how it tastes.
A few times this past summer, I have been doing brick workouts. That is two workouts in one. These long workouts need more than just hydration, they need some nutrition and gels just aren’t enough. So between a Swim Bike workout and between a Bike Run workout, I ate an Outright Bar and felt satisfied.
